Cherishing Nature in Bhutan

The Kingdom of Bhutan is the only carbon neutral country in the world.

Bhutanese are predominantly Buddhists and revere Nature. 68% of the country is covered by forests, home to a very rich biodiversity. Nature conservation is one of the four pillars of Gross National Happiness.

Bhutanese also take great pride in their Dzongs, the fortresses, and in their “Tshechus” festivals, when sins can be washed away and blessings received. It is very inspiring that they have been able to respond to modern life needs, while preserving their traditions.

My four visits to Bhutan have been all special and different, but the kindness and welcoming spirit of the Bhutanese has not changed.
